Summer is always the best time to go enjoy the French Riviera. And it’s just so nice to take the time to enjoy your own country.
We went on a little road trip to visit a few town, and here’s all the stops we made :
Marseille
Best place to stay
Intercontinental
Located on the old harbour of Marseille, at the famous Hotel Dieu, the Intercontinental set place in one of the most unique building of Marseille, offering a direct view of the Cathedrale Notre Dame de la Garde.
Sofitel
Sofitel is always an amazing place to stay while in town. They have an amazing view, and mostly a gorgeous rooftop to enjoy a drink or dinner. Plus if you don’t know it yet, the Sofitel hotels have the most confortable beds and pillows EVER, trust me.
What to do
You can obviously visit the Old Harbour, but on my top list you have to go to : Notre Dame de la Garde, Palais Longchamp and a day in Les Calanques.
For dinner, I recommend going to Place Thiars or Vallon des Auffes where you can find lots of beautiful and delicious restaurants. Try to book a table at Chez Fonfon or Chez Jeannot.
Monaco
Where to stay
If you have the budget for Monaco, you can obviously stay in town at either the Fairmont or Hotel de Paris. But if you’re on a budget I have the perfect option for you.
Riviera Marriott
Marriott has a gorgeous hotel just at the end of Monaco in Cap d’Ail. They offer a shuttle to go to Monte-Carlo, or it’s just a 5 minutes drive to be downtown. The hotel has a gorgeous view on the Cap d’Ail marina, and a restaurant to enjoy a good cocktail.
What to do
Monaco is a very small country, only 2km square. For me you have to stop at the Casino, the place to be in Monaco and where to shop. And obviously the Rocher where you can see the palace of the King, and see all the gorgeous and colourful houses. If you want to try a delicious brunch place in Monaco, you need to go to Eloa, loved this place so much, they have some delicious açai bowl and avocado toast.
If you’re by car, you can drive 20 minutes to Menton, one of the most gorgeous city in the south of France, and enjoy an amazing dinner at Le Sud.
Nice
Where to stay
AC Nice Hotel
One nice option (Nice option in Nice, get it) is to stay at the AC Nice Hotel, which is a Marriott hotel. The hotel has an amazing rooftop with a pool and turns into a restaurant at night. A must visit.
The Negresco
One of the most iconic hotel in Nice, where all the stars are staying. You can also go there to enjoy a little drink.
Hyatt Regency Palais de la Méditerranée
Also located on the Promenade des Anglais, this hotel is a good spot in town.
What to do
Nice has a lot to offer, you can either enjoy the beach and stop at Rulh Plage, or you can enjoy all the amazing and cute brunch, restaurant that the city has to offer.
La Popote d’Ondine is a must try when in town, with Café Brindille, both amazing restaurant, great service, delicious food, and beautiful decoration, aka the perfect combo.
You also need to take a day to visit Villefranche-sur-mer which is only 20 minutes drive from Nice. The town is just gorgeous, one of my favorite.
